Earle Mack and Golden Pegasus Racing’s Bolo is the first horse to win the G2 Arcadia Stakes at Santa Anita two years in a row.
Bolo and Jockey Mike Smith edged out What a View in the final stretch to take first at Arcadia on February 11th, 2017. The event was important for Bolo not only because this is the first time a horse has won the race twice in as many years, but also because it showed that Bolo was in fine form after recovering from throat surgery to repair a breathing issue.
Keith Brackpool of Golden Pegasus Racing had nothing but praise for Bolo, “He’s something else, this horse. Carla [Bolo’s trainer] and I were saying, ‘get third, get third,’ then ‘get second, get second.’ I didn’t think we had won until I saw the replay.”
The win puts Bolo at an overall career record of five wins from 13 starts, with earnings of over $600,000.
